For Sale:  L.C. Smith Chamber & Choke gauges

These gauges are made from prints that the Hunter Arms Co. used and are from Wm. Brophy’s book “L.C. Smith Shotguns.”

These gauges are made in:
            10 ga. chamber and 10 ga. choke
            12 ga. chamber and 12 ga. choke
            16 ga. chamber and 16 ga. choke
            20 ga. chamber and 20 ga .choke

The chamber gauges for 12 ga. have chamber markings for 2 ¾ and 3 inches. It is interesting to note that in the June (2011) L.C. Smith Journal, Tom Roster sent a letter to Tom Damiani (page 20) stating that Hevi-Shot should not be used in L.C. Smiths because they are short chambered by 1/8 inch and you will develop more pressure. I can vouch that all of the 12 ga. guns I have measured are a full 2 ¾ inches. Curiosity got to me and I measured the only 3-inch chambered gun I own, a 1927 Long Range, and it did come up short by close to 1/8 inch. So it would be interesting if others could measure theirs to see.

16 ga. chamber gauges are both 2 9/16 and 2 ¾ inches on gauge.
20 ga. chamber gauges are both 2 ½ and 2 ¾ inches on gauge.

I test every chamber gauge to make sure it fits and so there are scratches on them.

The choke gauges, I have both, either the tapered one with markings along the shaft showing the various choke sixes, but not marked on gauge.

The other choke gauge has the decimal equivalent, 12 ga as example, .695 (full) .710 (mod), .725 (imp. Cyl) and .729 (bore or cylinder, but marked Bore)

The only gauges I make are L.C. Smith, those are the only drawings I have. If you need something different, give me the dimensions.
